Road trip Wenatchee wines?

After hitting Gordon Brothers on Saturday, I am going up to Cashmere WA for some Bluegrass music. Along the way or on our way back, we are planning to head through Wenatchee. Can anyone recommend any wineries in that area that are worth the stop?

Wenatchee Wineries

David,

There are several worth seeking out, but my personal favorite is in East Wenatchee, which is Fielding Hills. Dave and Karen Wade are wonderful hosts, and their winery, located inside a former fruit shed, is humble. However, their wines are absolutely fantastic!!!!! They routinely receive 90 to 95 point scores from respected critics. For once, I agree with those critics! (*Tim...step away from your soapbox and no one will get hurt....!*)

Cheers!

Fielding Hills

It's Mike Wade (not Dave). Just FYI.

I'm a dork....

Yes, you are right! It is Mike Wade. I know a guy named Dave Wade and had them confused. At least I got Karen right!

Cheers!

A few wines here and there

Tim thanks for the tip. Unfortunately they don't have a tasting room. We left Gordon brothers loaded with cabs and late harvest Gewurtz (50% off.) We took 240 to Vantage hoping to hit a few wineries on the way. We were hearing some bluegrass music in Chasemere, so we had a deadline. We tried. Fox Estate winery, thinking they might be open during crush. I hadn't tried any of their wines. We couldn't find their tasting room. We also tried another winery, but they were closed.
Sunday we went to Leavenworth and tasted at Ryan Patrick, and picked up some Barabara and tasty Chardonnay. We also went to Okagagon (sp?) Vineyards and had some good older WA wine (2004). Nice flight of late harvest & a few icewines. Picked up a few more bottles. (Note to self, SELF next time you're in Leavenworth, go to the Cheesemonger cheese shop. The best.) We tried Berge Hoff but they were closed. (Why are wineries closed on Sunday?)
On the way home we came a different route and stopped by White Herron cellars in Quincey. Nice setup he has. We got a chance to talk to the wine maker and bought a bottle of very yummy Syrah that was nicely priced. We broke out our cheese and ate/drank in his vineyard. Nice fellow.

Fielding Hills tasting room

Hey Dave,

Sorry about that! I should have mentioned that Fielding Hills doesn't have a tasting room per se', but if you call ahead, they are very gracious and will open up the winery for tastings. If you haven't had their wines before, they are well worth seeking out! They initially received rave reviews for their merlot, quickly followed by critical acclaim for their cab, syrah, cab franc, and Riverbend Red, a blend. They have been on the Top 100 lists from a few different publications, and consistently receive 90-95 point scores from different critics on their entire portfolio of wines. Their style is elegant yet powerful, not overblown, overextracted, or overoaked, and they are great food wines. If you get up that way again, call Dave or Karen Wade, the owners, ahead of time and check them out! And no, I do not work for them.... just a fan.

Cheers!
Tim
