The Wine Knows

A couple of weeks ago, I visited with Denise Slattery, co-owner of Trio Vintners in Walla Walla, Wash.

Denise and her husband, Steve Michener, moved from Northern California to enroll in Walla Walla Community College's enology and viticulture program. There, they met Tim Boushey, another student.

Together the three launched Trio Vintners after graduation. They moved into an incubation area at the Walla Walla airport and are now in their third harvest.

One of their wines, the 2006 Zinfandel, scored an "Outstanding" rating in our tasting of Italian reds, results of which appear in our Fall issue of Wine Press Northwest.
