Maryhill winemaker changesMaryhill, one of Washington's largest and most successful family-owned wineries, has gone through its second winemaking change in the past few years. Craig Larson, who came on the job during the 2006 vintage, has departed for Temecula, Calif., to work for Callaway Winery. He left in mid-spring. John Haw, who was Maryhill's original winemaker and produced some fantastic wines during his tenure, filled in on an interim basis while owners Craig and Vicki Leuthold found a replacement. The new winemaker is Garry Perrner, who has been making wine at the highly regarded St. James Winery in Missouri and also spent time in Texas during his 25-year career. Garry has been on board for more than a month and is preparing for his first Washington harvest. |
