Winemaking Study Programs

There's a couple of non-degree study programs for winemaking. One is the WSU Extension program in Prosser (which has a 2-3 wait list). Another is at UC Davis. It begins with a DVD/Online course called "Introduction to Winemaking".

Has anyone participated in these (or other) programs/courses? I'd like to hear from somebody who's done it.

* Who do you see the program most suitable for?
* Is it basic or advanced? Why?
* Was it worth the trouble and money for you?

Thanks!

Other Wine study programs

I am currently attending the Yakima Valley Community College wine program in Grandview, WA. Its a fairly new program, 2-3 years old. We have a crush facility, wine making area (1000 cases), tasting room and lab.
I think its a great program. The first year you take a mixture of viticulture and enology classes. In your second year, you must decide between enology or viticulture. I have decided to get both.
You can read more about it here: http://www.yvcc.edu/programs/agriculture/vine_wine/default.asp

Most classes are in evening and geared for people in the industry. The school was developed to give the industry within the Inlands a wine school close to many of larger production wineries.

I began the school in Sept 07, so most of the classes I have taken are introductory, but from looking at the class schedule and the books we will be using in class, it appears to get more advanced as you progress though the degree.
