More perfection for Quilceda Creek

Doug Charles of Compass Wines in Anacortes, Wash., announced in an email blast to customers today that Quilceda Creek Vintners in Snohomish, Wash., has earned another perfect 100 from The Wine Advocate, Robert Parker's publication.

According to Charles, Quilceda's 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon led the way for many high scores from Jay Miller, Parker's reviewer for Northwest wines. Cayuse, actually an Oregon winery, scored a 98 and 97 respectively for a 2004 and 2005 Syrah. Leonetti's 2005 Reserve scored a 97, and Andrew Will's 2005 Sorella earned a 96.

Charles points out that Quilceda is the first winery in the world to earn a perfect score from Advocate three out of four years for a Bordeaux variety.

perfection for Quilceda Creek

congratulations to Quilceda Creek. This is a bit off topic as I have not had the Quilceda Creek but we had dinner on the 4th at a friends house and another guest brought 2 bottles of the 05 Sorella. This was a very nice bottle of wine but for my taste is wasn't a 96 (that close to perfection) but perhaps it will get better with a bit of rest.
This was not a tasting but just friends having dinner and one wine that people, about 10 of us, were surprised at for price/quality was a Merlot from a winery called Natalies Estate (Newberg) made from fruit from the Pines Vineyard.
I had not had Natalies Estate wine before but I have since bought a case of the Merlot and look forward to trying one of their Cabs I also picked up.

05 Sorella and Quilceda Creek

Awwww man.... a few weeks ago I plunked down about $70 on an '05 Sorella!!! I don't plan on opening it for a few years, so hopefully it will grow into it's britches.....

As for Quilceda Creek, their wines truly are spectacular. I always get the half case of the Columbia Valley red, which for $32 a pop is an awesome bottle of wine. (If you aren't on the QC mailing list, the Delille Cellars D2 is another great bottle for about the same price, and you can usually find that in wine shops.) The QC flagship is totally amazing, with more layers of flavors, and more interesting components, than I can sometimes pick out. What an intense wine! You can drink that juice with an eye dropper and not miss anything... I haven't had any of the new vineyard designates yet, but I am excited to try them. The only downside is, the wines are very pricey and I only have them on very special occasions......

Cheers!
Tim
