Newbie Asks for Your Thoughts….

Hi I am new to the Wine Press NW Blog and I wanted to ask the opinion of everyone else here regarding a deal I found online. It is a 2004 Klingele Vineyard Syrah that typically goes for $30, but is being sold for $24. Typically if I was at the grocery store and saw a deal like this I would just buy a bottle, try it out, and go back to the store to pick up more if the wine was good. Unfortunately this deal is online so my typical process won’t work for me here and I want to know if I am better off just buying one bottle or should just go for it and buy multiple bottles. The site I found the deal on is www.b2cwine.com on the ‘Featured Wine’ page. I appreciate any advice I get, thank you.

Klingele Vineyard Syrah

Klingele is one of the best Syrah vineyards in the somewhat cooler Yakima Valley. I've walked the vineyard a couple of times, and it is very well farmed.

This particular wine is made by Ray Sandidge, whom I consider one of Washington's underrated talents.

And I would consider 2004 a very solid year for Washington, aside from the massive winter damage that occurred in the Walla Walla Valley.

I've tasted this wine perhaps three or four times. My impression is that it was very, very good but never quite reached "great." That said, it has had a little more time to develop in the bottle.

I don't think it would be a bad bet to purchase multiple bottles of this wine, especially if you prefer Syrahs that are more Rhone-like vs. Aussie-like.

Thanks for the info

I really appreciate the information, in fact I took your advice and got a few bottles and haven't regretted it yet!!!
