Taste Washington Spokane updateAn email I received this afternoon confirms that the Washington Wine Commission will be backing away from Taste Washington Spokane. However, this doesn't mean the event will end. Chris Stone, director of events for the wine commission, said responsibility for the event will go back to the Spokane wineries (they started the event in the first place, before the wine commission stepped in). According to Stone, "The WWC will continue to support the event with seed capital, organizational template materials, pre-event promotion, registration software training, event supplies, Taste Washington signage and on-site event support." This isn't a bad trade-off, and it should give the Spokane wineries decent support for continuing Taste Washington Spokane. Could similar support be offered to the Tri-Cities so Taste Washington can return to the heart of Washington wine country? Stay tuned.
