In case you haven't heard, the U.S. government is considering a change to wine labeling laws that would require wineries to put information on each bottle similar to the nutrition facts you see on grocery items. This change would have a deep impact on the industry. Thus, if you are or plan to be involved in the wine business, you should learn more about this.
Washington State University is leading a forum Dec. 6 at its research station in Prosser. It will be led by WSU enologists Kerry Ringer and Jim Harbertson and will include such winemakers as Wade Wolfe (Thurston Wolfe), Marty Clubb (L'Ecole) and Casey McClellan (Seven Hills), along with other industry experts.
The government is taking comments on the proposed rule through February, so now is when industry professionals should learn about it.
