CNN discovers B.C.'s Okanagan ValleyCNN.com has a nice article on British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, courtesy of Travel + Leisure magazine. If you have not been to the Okanagan Valley before, this is a good primer. It hits the highlights with Fresco as the restaurant of choice and four mainstream wineries. Oddly, the article points out Pinot Noir and Riesling as the top wines made in the Okanagan. While I think the Okanagan's Rieslings are marvelous, I've found its Pinot Noirs often uninspired. The ice wines are tossed in as an aside, as are the Bordeaux and Rhone varieties, which are more of a strength in the Okanagan. As if to prove my point, the article's recommendation of which wines to bring back home included Chardonnay, Syrah, ice wine and Chenin Blanc - not a Riesling or Pinot Noir. But as I said, this is a good, basic article on the Okanagan, and the B.C. Wine Institute must be pleased.

Okanagan Wines
I was raised in the Okanagan and occasionally venture back there to visit relatives and freinds(Have a small vineyard in Idaho). I have found their whites to be very good, ie. Pinot Blanc, Auxero(sp?), there reds are also getting good, try Kettle Valley's Pinot Noir.
