New Wine Shops

Yo people!

Last week, I "discovered" (although I know it has been open for several months) a new wine shop here in the Spokane area. It is called "Bottles", and is on Argonne in the Millwood area of the Spokane Valley. I hadn't stopped in since road construction on that street makes it a pain in the @ss... last week, however, I stopped in and was absolutely blown away by a great selection AND riduculous prices!!! I am a big fan of Yokes here in Spokane, where Grant Gondry, the head wine steward, has a killer selection and excellent prices. Bottles, though, might become a favorite new place to shop! The prices are incredible... at least $5, if not more, on great bottles than any place in town, including Costco. Reininger cabs at $25, Robert Karl cabs for about $25, L'Ecole 41 syrahs for $19,99, Cougar Crest Dedication 2 for $16.00, Thurston Wolfe Horse Heaven Hills syrah for $12.49, and more! They have a killer selection of wine and the prices are simply unbeatable. So, for any wine freaks in Spokane, if you haven't been there, you need to check it out!

So... are there any other new wine shops in the area - or anywhere where the readers and participants of this blog - that anyone would like to share? We have read of wine shops closing down, but success like Bottles need to be shared.

Last, has anyone seen any killer wine deals offered by wineries lately? Forgeron e-mailed me an offer for a 3 pack of great stuff for $60, which was a great deal. I just bought a case of excellent chardonnay from a Russian River Valley winery for $99 - they are blowing out their last 50 cases of the 2007 vintage and offered mailing list members about half off. Has anyone seen any deals like that from Washington State? Now seems to be a great time to stock up!

Cheers!
Tim
